"Write a love letter to fandom. It might be to fandom in general, to a particular fandom, favourite character, anything at all."

Dear Object Show Community:

I encountered you in the wild a few times before I finally caved and joined the fandom. I attacked some object characters on Artfight in Summer 2024; I watched an Inanimate Insanity fan animatic out of curiosity because a Ninjago fan-artist had made one; I can only assume, though I don't specifically remember, that I encountered BFDI assets at some point in my career on Scratch. But I actually got interested because my friends wouldn't shut up about Battle For Dream Island in the new Discord server we'd made together. It looked cute, and I really wanted to know what on earth my friends were talking about, so, on November 27, 2024, I went on YouTube and watched the first episode.

My first reaction: this is fucking weird. Read more... )
Pets of Fandom: Loosely defined! Post about your pets, pets from your canon, anything you want!

Loosely defined? You got it!

So, I've done a bit of poking around in TLT fandom spaces on both Reddit and Tumblr. And on Reddit, I saw a bit of art of zero_one as a cat, called zero_nyan. On Tumblr, I saw multiple different people draw it as an MLP-style pony, which makes sense, what with TLT's Brony roots. But what I haven't seen is art of zero_one as a dog!

"The Icebreaker Challenge: Introduce yourself. Tell us why you're doing the challenge, and what you hope to gain from it."

Hi there! You can call me Lu (they/them), and I'm participating in [community profile] snowflake_challenge this year! I know I've joined a little late, but I want to try and see how many challenges I can do before the end of January. For those unfamiliar, Snowflake Challenge is a yearly challenge where people answer prompts about themselves and their fandoms. I found out about it last year, but felt it was too late to join. I was reminded of it today, and thought, what the heck, I wanted a reason to post on Dreamwidth more often anyway! So yeah, it seems fun, let's see where this goes.

More fannish information about me: I'm a fanfic writer who occasionally dabbles in other fanwork types, mainly fanart, though not nearly as much anymore. I have trouble committing to projects for long enough to see them finished, so my AO3 page is more than a little bare, but I still consider myself a fic writer. My main media interests right now are object shows and The Living Tombstone, two fandoms that...don't really have much presence on Dreamwidth. Ah well! Hopefully you still find my posts interesting, even if you aren't familiar with the media being discussed. (And if you are familiar with one of these fandoms [especially TLT], let's chat!)
